October 20, 2005 - Adobe today announced an update to its DNG (Digital Negative Specification) Converter, a program used to convert a type of raw digital file, which now stores larger previews, permits running a DNG with a command line interface, provides more JPEG preview size options, and gives support to 14 new cameras included in the also-new Camera Raw 3.2 plug-in.

The Camera Raw 3.2 plug-in gives more archiving options to these 14 new cameras, which come from Nikon, Panasonic, Konica Minolta, and Leaf to bring Adobe’s list of DNG-supporting cameras up to 80. Ricoh has also extended its support for Adobe’s format by supported DNG on its new GR model. Other manufacturers already on the list of DNG supporters include Leica and Hasselblad.

Bryan Lamkin, senior vice president of Digital Imaging and Digital Video at Adobe, said, “Serious photographers have already expressed their eagerness to find cameras that support the common DNG format. …We look forward to working closely with Ricoh and other manufacturers as DNG evolves and becomes part of everyday photography workflows.”

The newly supported cameras are: Nikon D2Hs, Nikon D70s, Nikon D50, Nikon Coolpix 8400, Nikon Coolpix 8800, Leaf Valeo 17, Leaf Aptus 22, Panasonic DMC-LX1, Panasonic DMC-FZ3, Leica D-Lux 2, Konica Minolta ALPHA-5 DIGITAL, Konica Minolta MAXXUM 5D, Konica Minolta DYNAX 5D, and the Minolta ALPHA SWEET DIGITAL.
