A-DATA Announces New SDHC and CF Memory Cards

A-DATA September 11, 2007 – Taiwanese flash memory manufacturer A-DATA Technology last week launched three new memory cards: the 16GB Turbo SDHC Class 6, 8GB Super SDHC Duo, and 32GB Speedy CompactFlash cards. The A-DATA cards, for use in personal media devices, digital still cameras, and camcorders, are designed for storing high resolution images.

“A-DATA believes that as there are more digital entertainment and memories in consumers’ lives -- especially when they use high resolution digital cameras or digital camcorders -- they need memory cards with large capacity. These three memory cards deliver twice the capacity than they currently can get in the market, and the consumers now can shoot without worrying about filling up the card,” stated the release.

A-DATA named one of the new cards “the world’s first 16GB SDHC Class 6” Turbo card, according to an Aug. 31 company press release. The Class 6 rating indicates the Secure Digital High Capacity card has a data transfer speed of 6MB per second. The A-DATA 16GB Turbo SDHC Class 6 card builds on the current 8GB Turbo SDHC card in the product line.

A-DATA also added the 8GB Class 4 card to the Super SDHC Duo products, up from the previous card's 2GB capacity. The new 8GB card has a write speed of 4MB per second. In addition, the Speedy CompactFlash 32GB card has been expanded from the current 16GB Speedy CF card.

Pricing and availability have not yet been announced.
