Default Goodbye, folks! (from Hiding_Pup)

Well, it's a new year, and time for a change for me, I think. So, after due consideration, I've decided to step down as your moderator, rather than do a bad job of it.

It seems the chatter's died down here somewhat. There's a lot of "which camera is better than which" posts, and lot of "which camera shall I buy" talk. This is fine - we all love new toys - but, remember, all toys and no photography makes Jack a dull boy!

So here's my parting advice, my final thought in the style of Jerry Springer:

No camera is perfect - but the best photographers learn to work with their cameras' limitations, rather than stare into the internet, looking for something else to spend their money on. Because, whatever they do spend their money on won't be perfect either...

The best camera is the one you have in your hand; and the best way to improve your photography is to do more of it.

Good luck, and good night!

Pup

I have just registered to this site, and saw your post. Too bad good knowledge is going away.
Are there other moderators? Is this site now going belly up? Concerning post, I would hope for people to ask questions regarding their photography, and how to improve or do things.
Which is the better camera is for the user to decide. That's what reviews are for, and they are not always right. It's all pesonal opinion.
The best advice along these lines is to buy all you can afford of the brand that gives you what you think you want or need.

Being a new member of this forum, I agree that you must look to other pastures. Being a moderator is hard work and quite often thankless. The one thing I do remember about previous forums, is that I made many friends who I have lost contact with due to various reasons. Many were lonely, sick, angry, rude, kind, caring, loving, funny and my personal picture of them is a spiritual thing, not a visual thing. To me a forum is a place where you can say things that hurt, heal, help, destroy, build, demolish but in the end, your rewards will equal your donations. I am totally devoted to photography as a retirement past-time (5 years). I have the same problems as most other old people (69) have, but I cope by having conversations with like minded people. I enjoy helping young people understand what life is all about. I can help by guiding people past and through the hurdles that I have experienced. I love politics, religion, gardening, nature, riding bikes, walking, singing, music, art, people. I do not own a car or a pet. I have owned and experieced the following cameras. Olympus 760 UZ, C80. Fuji S9500 uz, F50fd, S100fs. Pentax K100D,K100D super,K10D. Ricoh GX100. I use sigma and pentax lenses on my DSLRs. I sell my photos through a stock site but dont make a lot of money. I enjoy the challenge of getting pictures accepted in a very competitive field. I enjoy my computer and the internet. My wife,daughter,grand-daughter have cameras. I also have a great-grand-daughter. I am a Christian but do not belong to any one church. I live in Paradise- Coffs Harbour (A place on the mid-east coast of Australia), in a city of 70.000 people, in a climate that has a 14C average temperature, 16 beaches, no polution, 200 miles from nearest large city, midway between Sydney and Brisbane, bananas are 50c per kilo. Coffs Harbour is so popular we have a shortage of all medical facilities, petrol is currently $AU1.50 litre, growth has outstripped development, public transport is poor. Main economic income: bananas, hobbie farming, farmer's markets, tourism, holidays, surfing, fishing, sport, div ing, religion, superannuation. I am looking forward to meeting as many of you that have similar interests. I have travelled the world while working for two US companies and retired at the age of 45. I love life, but look forward to what comes next. Macduncan.
