Default Toshiba M65 questions

Any suggestions on how to take a photo of a TV screen? I tried the ususal way, but all I see is the TV, but it looks like the TV is off. I don't see the image that's on the screen in the photo. But I do see the flash on the TV screen!

Also, my flash doesn't work in low light conditions, just when I'd need it. And even when I can get a picture and teh flash works, the photo still looks dark (see attachment). Any tips here?

First thing's first: you don't want to use a flash - if you do, the flash will reflect off the telly, and your camera will expose for the shiny black reflective surface (imagine the telly being switched off)...

Next, most tvs actually flicker really fast - so you need to have manual control over the shutter speed, otherwise there'll be a dark band in the middle. Sadly, this can't be done with the Toshiba M65.

If you can borrow a camera with a manual exposure mode off a friend, however, try these settings: aperture - f4; shutter speed 1/60s; 400 ASA. These settings should yield a successful result on most conventional televisions.

If you can't borrow someone else's camera, try actively turning your camera's flash OFF and see what the camera does..- - best of luck!
