Default Nikon D200 and Capture NX

Just a word to the wise. The new Nikon Capture software NX does not carry all of the older functions from the prior versions forward. If you have purchased or are thinking about purchasing a new Nikon D200 the only software you can use is the new NX software. Be careful. Also, you can not purchase some of the accessories at this time. They are in such a short supply. Take for example a cable release. There is none. You have to purchase a electronic cable release for big money. If you can fine one. Gone are the days of a inexpensive manual cable release.

Cheers for the heads-up! As for the NX, I think I'm right in saying that there's still a downloadable trial version for both Windows and Mac, so the sensible thing to do would be to use it for the trial, and then decide whether there were any features you missed: http://www.capturenx.com/

Presumably, this new Nikon camera next week will have an artisan gnome inside who's a dab hand at Photoshop. Or not, now the rather tepid first reviews of the Sony A100 are trickling out. I had a play today and I wasn't overly impressed. Fantastic feature set on paper, but the shutter mechanism was cumbersome, so cumbersome that I couldn't really handhold it below 1/30s without the built-in IS!

But this is another subject entirely, and me ranting so....
