Hi. short version is I have a slr that I love but want a compact to compliment. major concern is shutter lag. I'm an auto-set kind of user--dont want to fiddle, but demand top quality and will pay for it. Again, shutter lag drives me nuts but want top quality too. Has that shutter lag gap been bridged yet on compacts vs SLR's? . Any suggestions? Thanks

Hi...I am very much attracted by the Nikon D40 because it is compact and relatively simple but allegedly with high performance. I would recommend the same.. The D40 is new technology. It's image quality is far superior to the D100, and it's ISO performance blows it out of the water...
